Karnataka ADGP Files Complaint Against Union Minister Kumaraswamy and Son
Bengaluru: In a dramatic turn of events, Karnataka’s Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) M Chandra Sekhar has lodged a formal complaint against Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy and his son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, escalating the ongoing tensions between the senior officer and the prominent political figures.
The ADGP, who is leading the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating illegal mining activities dating back to 2013, accused the father-son duo of attempting to obstruct the probe. The complaint, registered at Sanjay Nagar Police Station, outlines allegations of intimidation, including verbal threats and efforts to undermine Chandra Sekhar’s standing within the Karnataka cadre.
Chandra Sekhar claims that Kumaraswamy and his allies are leveraging their political influence to disrupt the investigation. He also alleged that threats were made against him and his family in an attempt to pressure him into compromising the inquiry.
Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the president of the JD(S) Youth wing, along with MLA Suresh Babu, has also been named in the complaint. The ADGP accused them of orchestrating false allegations intended to discredit him and his investigation.
Kumaraswamy, who is currently out on bail in connection with the illegal mining case, fired back with his own accusations, alleging that Chandra Sekhar is involved in corruption and is misusing his authority. He further claimed that the ADGP is acting under the influence of the Congress-led government in Karnataka, vowing to raise the issue with the Union Home Ministry.
As the investigation continues to heat up, the exchange of accusations between the two sides has deepened concerns over possible political interference in the legal process, leaving the outcome of the probe shrouded in uncertainty.
